As many of you know Spring and Summer are basically what I live for. I love the warm weather, flowers and new plant growth, and of course spring fashion. During March every year I try and plan out my wardrobe and general aesthetic for the upcoming season. Here are just a few of the items and themes I will be introducing in my style this upcoming season.

You all know the phrase April showers bring may flowers. Unfortunately for us in New York the rain starts earlier in March and doesn’t usually let up until May. This calls for some serious rain boots. As a previous L.L. Bean employee I have been a loyal patron of the bean boot, or duck boot as many of you call it. This year I have decided that it is time for a change. I needed something clean, classic and timeless. This called for the ever classic Hunter Boot. I chose to go with the staple tall black glossy boots. I was fortunate enough to buy them locally at a local boutique in Glens Falls, NY called Minky Mink. I think I made the right call on these and they will definitely become a staple piece in my wardrobe.

For me Spring calls for lots and lots of pastel color. Right now I am in the process of trying to make my closet more toned down color wise (as hard as it may be for me). So instead of going ahead and purchasing loads and loads of pastel tops and dresses that will sit in my closet the majority of the year I have decided to play up the pastel theme on my nails. I bought the most amazing set of pastel polish by Jena Taylor at TJ Maxx a few weeks ago and I am in love. One of the things I love about pastel polish is that is looks amazing in either a matte or gloss finish. Since I love to play with both this is super beneficial for me and my nails. I highly recommend adding a couple different pastels to your collection if you don’t already have some.

Speaking of trying to keep my wardrobe toned down a bit, I have been trying extremely hard not to buy every bright colored and patterned garment in sight with the excitement of warmer weather near. That being said I have made a compromise with myself. I am allowing myself to buy patterned and floral  clothes as long as it is a predominately neutral color such as black, navy, creme, or something of the sort. I don’t know if I can keep this promise as I am dying to buy a Lily Pulitzer off the shoulder dress this season. We’ll see how long I can stay strong. Here is a romper I bought from Forever 21 on a whim that you will be seeing styled in the future as the weather begins to warm up. I can’t wait to show you all how I am going to style it.

Last but not least I will show you some of the picks I have added to my lingerie collection this season. One big trend I have been seeing in streetwear as well as on the runway is the “bra out” trend. Now I am not saying I am going to go walk out of my house without a top on, I have found some ways to incorporate this trend in daily street fashion in the warmer months. I bought these two flutter bralettes from VS a few weeks ago and I am in love. I can’t wait to wear them out with some high waisted jeans and a light cardigan or kimono.

In continuation of the “bra out” trend I have found lacy slips and baby dolls that can easily transition from bedroom to streetwear with the addition of a bralette and of course some pants or shorts. I have found many of these types of items at VS. No all I have to do is wait for the weather to warm up so I can begin introducing these styles without looking totally insane and totally freezing.
